Publishing a single topic sponsored supplement offers a cost effective method of reaching a target audience of professionals. The supplement will be peer reviewed, indexed, and covered by the major data base and contents services. The supplement will be available on the Journal's home website as well as ScienceDirect.

- Name and affiliation of guest editor(s)
- Name of sponsor(s)
- If based on proceedings of a symposium, please provide date and venue of meeting.

Guidelines for Publishing Supplements to
Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
Proposals for supplements to the Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation must be submitted to the Editorial Board. The following guidelines will be used to review proposals.
1. Topics must be of importance to readers of the Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and consistent with the academic and educational mission of the journal. Factors taken into consideration are the significance and timeliness of the proposed topic, the scientific merit of the approach, and the qualifications of the contributors. Final acceptance is based on the submitted manuscripts successfully undergoing Archives?¢??s peer review process. Funding must be available to cover the cost of publication and mailing to all subscribers with the journal.
2. Proposals for a supplement should be submitted to the Editor via e-mail to archivesmail@mail.archives.acrm.org. The proposal must include a table of contents with authors' names and contact information.
3. Supplements will be published only if there is a scientific or educational logic for combining papers in one publication rather than publishing them separately. The number and quality of the articles in the supplement must be sufficient to constitute a body of important information that is current and of interest to the clinical and scientific community.
4. Each supplement must have a Guest Editor who is an expert in the designated topic and is approved by Archives?¢??s Executive Committee. The Guest Editor accepts responsibility for the overall quality and integrity of the supplement and will receive no remuneration (eg, stipends, grants, gifts). Specifically, the Guest Editor is responsible for: (1) ensuring that all articles in the supplement undergo content editing and internal evaluation prior to submission for formal peer review by Archives; (2) providing information regarding the nature of the ?¢??internal?¢?? review process; (3) compiling articles for inclusion in the supplement; (4) assisting in editing of the publication, if necessary, (5) reviewing proofs, and (6) if requested, assisting in the investigation of potential conflicts of interest.
5. Manuscript authors must meet and comply with all the criteria as outlined in the Instructions to Authors. This includes authorship responsibility. All authors must be listed and ghost authorship will not be permitted. Authors must not accept any supplementary remuneration (eg, stipends, grants, gifts) specifically for the research and writing of the manuscripts submitted.
6. The Editors of Archives retain the right to determine whether any individual article in a supplement is published. Once submitted, all manuscripts will undergo peer review, and final approval is subject to the outcome of that process. Individual authors are responsible for the content of their respective contributions and for editing those contributions.
7. A supplement based on a conference or symposium should be planned well in advance of the conference date so that the manuscripts will be available either at the time of the meeting or shortly thereafter. To ensure that the information is current and timely, supplements will be accepted only if they can be published within 12 months of the symposium or conference.
The Editors will consider for publication only proceedings from symposia organized by an independent body of professionals in which the funding organization does not have a controlling or commercial voice. Supplements must contain a statement indicating the amount and source of funding and their distribution. All funding for publication must derive from unrestricted educational grants to Archives. Furthermore, the Guest Editor and all contributors must clearly indicate whether they have any conflict of interest and, if so, the extent and nature of the potential conflict.
8. The supplement manuscripts will be reviewed to ensure that the content is not biased toward the interest of any sponsor. Presentations that extol a commercial product will not be permitted within the supplement. Publication of a supplement does not constitute product or sponsor endorsements by Archives, and the following disclaimer will be printed at the beginning of each supplement:
?¢??The contents of this issue represent a supplement to Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, prepared and paid for by the sponsoring organization. Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation endeavors to assure that the material presented is not biased in the interest of the sponsoring organization. Publication of this supplement does not constitute product or sponsor endorsement by Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.?¢??
9. Articles published in a supplement are subject to the same copyright regulations that apply to articles published in regular issues of Archives, including signing a release transferring all rights, both print and electronic to Archives.
10. Manuscripts must be submitted in the format of Archives. Instructions regarding manuscript submission (Information for Authors, Supplementary Guide for Stylistic Preparation of Manuscript) can be found on the Archives web site at http://www.archives-pmr.org.
11. The publisher (Christine Rullo, Publishing Director US Health Sciences Journals 1600 John F. Kennedy Blvd, Suite 1800, Philadelphia, PA 19103-2899; Tel: 215-239-3709; Fax: 215-239-3734; Email: c.rullo@elsevier.com)should be contacted to determine the cost of the supplement. The sponsor must submit a letter of intent or purchase order to the publisher at or before the time supplement manuscripts are delivered to the publisher. Information the publisher will need to know includes: the number of pages (manuscript and estimated printed pages), use of color, number of additional copies required, and any special instructions for packaging/shipping.
12. No advertisements will be accepted in a sponsored supplement.
